Results of the first #EUvsVirus hackathon

The European Commission organized the first #EUvsVirus Hackathon in collaboration with Member States and Associate Members in Horizon 2020, with the valuable support of hundreds of volunteers and partners. One of the partners was also ours Džemal Bijedić University in Mostar, which greatly assisted in the maintenance and evaluation of project proposals.

The EUwsVirus Hackathon jury identified the best solutions to support the fight against coronavirus outbreaks. In cooperation with private and public partners from Europe and beyond, the best teams and solutions by areas were awarded, as well as the winner of two accompanying solutions for each of the 37 challenges, or a total of 117 out of 2160 solutions!

After EUvsVirus Hackathon, the winners will be invited to Matchathon, which will be held from May 22 to 25 on the new EIC COVID platform. This online event will make it easier to connect with end-users, such as hospitals, and provide access to investors, corporations, foundations and other funding opportunities from across the EU.

Partner organizations have provided over € 100,000 to be distributed to the winners as a reward for their hard work and new solutions with the greatest potential to save and bring life closer in a global pandemic.
