Džemal Bijedić University in Mostar through the eduroam service - designed under the auspices of the European Association of Academic and Research Networks (TERENA) and realized through the international project GÉANT - provides proven secure and free internet access to all employees, teachers and associates.
Namely, three years ago, the University successfully completed the implementation of 802.1x standards for authentication on the WiFi network, thus enabling the use of the eduroam (EDUcation ROAMing) service, which includes free and secure Internet access for the international research and educational community - or for researchers ( ic) e, professor (ic) e and student (ic) e - anywhere in the world.
Eduroam service is available in as many as 101 countries, and Bosnia and Herzegovina entered the list thanks to a pilot project at the University of Sarajevo (University Tele-Information Center UTIC) and the University "Džemal Bijedić" in Mostar. on the expansion of the WiFi network, and soon we plan to enable the use of eduroam service to all our students.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that eduroam is based on the most secure encryption and authentication standards that exist today, and is therefore much more secure than the usual commercial hotspots.
