Authentication and Authorization Infrastructure (AAI) is a unique system for authentication and authorization of users, whose goal is secure, reliable and easy management of identities, and their use to access network and network available resources.

Educational institutions provide access to an increasing number of different digital content via the Internet, and it is necessary to provide access only to authorized persons. Access to all vital resources can only be achieved through an appropriate infrastructure (AAI), which allows the user easy access to the necessary resources. This infrastructure is most often called authentication and authorization infrastructure (AAI).

The authentication and authorization infrastructure (AAI) in the system of higher education and science at the "Džemal Bijedić" University in Mostar uses the "Active directory" as a basis for upgrading the AAI. Competence over these data on natural and legal persons, and information resources belongs to their home institutions of higher education, in cooperation with UnIC.
